Hello Everyone, and **Welcome to my Digital Garden.**
**The Syntax Garden** is a compilation of thoughts, investigations, experiments, trial-and-error and technological instructions. I flesh out ideas on a daily basis (mostly offline in notebooks), and sometimes feel like these should be posted somewhere to be read, and to serve as food for thought for other people and robots.
## 🌱 **About Me**
I'm Dan, [inquisitor.dev](https://inquisitor.dev), and I spend most of my days designing cloud systems and executing on those same designs: Kubernetes clusters, observability pipelines, secure infrastructure, the kind of work that lives under the surface of things, powering missions, platforms, and high-speed people.
But this blog isn’t about business-y stuff; *questions take root here and verdicts are earned.*
I'm an inquisitor by temperament. I go looking for the failure underneath the success story: the decision nobody wrote down, the assumption nobody tested, the post-mortem that blamed the wrong thing and the corrective actions built on it. This garden is where those investigations grow. Some posts are open **inquiries**, questions I'm still working. Some are **verdicts**, conclusions I reached by working the evidence. Some are **dicta**, positions I hold but haven't put on trial yet. Each post says which, so you know how much weight it can bear. [[Rules of the Court|How I label what I write]]
Root cause, cultivated. _The Syntax Garden_ is where I explore the stuff behind the systems: the patterns, the paradoxes, the logs and where those lead. It’s where I write when I don’t have to write for anyone, when I’m tracing a weird edge case, unpacking an architectural design choice, or trying to understand what architecture even means in a world of constant abstraction. Sometimes, *just sometimes*, I will write about other things, such as books, Orthodoxy, science, and decisions (sometimes fictional, and other times real decisions).
Some of these posts are of a technical nature. Some are philosophical to the core. Some are both, right or wrong. None of the write-ups are optimized for SEO, and none of them are “content”, just my thoughts on the matter.
Thoughts hoping they take root. Maybe inspire you to be better or to question *harder* and follow that rabbit to unknown depths wherever it takes you.
If you're someone who loves questions more than answers, complexity more than perfection, and system design as a form of thinking, you might find something here worth your time.
